Bio

Michael "Mo" Jones is an American bass player who has played with several bands and artist displaying his unique style and sound since 1980.

He graduated from Flushing High School in 1987 in Flushing, Michigan, and then went on to study Music Theory and Jazz bass at Mott Community College in Flint, MI. During his time in middle and high school, he recorded with the band Acid

Static Drought. They put out several songs with and without vocals. As he attended college, he joined the band Surreal and released their first CD in 1992 “Earth Passages of the

Illuminated.” That same year Surreal also released a EP called “Simple Dreams” where Michael

Jones was able to display his unique funk-technique by writing the music for the title track- “Simple Dreams.” Along the way, in college he picked up the nickname Mo. This has stuck with him and in the music industry where he is known as Mo Jones. After Surreal broke up,  Jones formed his own band called Liquid Eclipse. The name Liquid Eclipse is based off the first bass duet composition he wrote with the same title (1990). Liquid Eclipse released their first CD in 1994 where Jones was the main songwriter, recording engineer, producer and mix engineer.
Jones would end up touring Michigan with this progressive rock sound appealing

to his audiences. The song “After the Rain” would help them get international attention and increased CD sales. After Liquid Eclipse broke up in 1998, Jones joined the band Omega Force and recorded bass on several tracks for their CD Nu Mission written by Tom Rea. Omega Force ended up performing several concerts in Michigan geared toward youth. After Omega Force,  Jones wrote and recorded his first solo bass CD titled Mo Jones Bass (2006). Since that time he has recorded with many artists, such as: Theresa Maynard, Katie Geddes, Tom Rea , Peak, Answering the Call, Amy Heard, One With Him, and more. In 2015  Jones formed the band Threefold Mercy, in which he wrote, recorded and produced their first album “My Hope Is In You” (2017). Most recently, Mo has been working hard to write and record his second solo bass album and has just finished his first book.
